Everyone has a list of things they wished they knew about mental health in general. Here are the top four.

Where To Get Help

Knowing where to even begin is a huge issue for most. Either people feel like they are all alone or they are being judged for it. What people don’t realize though, there is a whole community wanting to help and support. There are plenty of helplines and easy ways to access help. A website such as 211.org is a good place to start.

You Are Allow A Second Opinion

Funny enough, this one comes up a lot. People seem to think mental health is a one-and-done. That is not true at all! If you feel like you are not being heard, or being pushed into something you are not okay with, or anything else, GET A SECOND OPINION! You are allowed to.

Are Medications The Only Option?

The answer is simple, NO! Medication should never be the first resort of a provider. Refer yourself back to number two, if you have doubts or concerns. Your provider should always explore all available options and figure out what is best for you. There is no “one size fits all” solution when it comes to health care.

Do I Have To Do This For The Rest Of My Life?

The short answer is yes. Most people who have mental health issues, often have a chemical imbalance. And those don’t just go away. Now for those who may have situations such as PTSD, non-medication treatment could be the answer. Things such as therapy and self-care could be the right fit.

But the bottom line, if you need help, please go get it!
